The communication problem
Fishing, harbor, aquaculture and coastal work teams may move between vessels, shore facilities and structures where cellular coverage is uneven. Crews need a clear local communication path for voice, messages and position awareness without confusing that tool with mandatory marine safety radio.
How ChatField can be evaluated
Each equipped teammate uses a compatible phone paired with J25. The phone remains the interface for PTT, messages, team location and offline maps. J25 devices form the local LoRa mesh communication layer between participating users.
Spain field-test plan
- Confirm the destination configuration and applicable Spanish and EU radio requirements.
- Separate vessel-to-vessel, vessel-to-shore and harbor-obstruction test sections.
- Document device position, antenna orientation, team spacing and local interference.

ChatField is a local team communication device. It does not replace VHF marine radio, statutory distress systems or other equipment required by law. Performance depends on the real vessel and shore layout.

Does the system require a cell tower?
The local mesh workflow is designed for equipped teammates when cellular service and Wi-Fi are unavailable.
Is there one guaranteed marine range?
No. Vessel position, structures, antenna placement, interference, node layout and configuration all affect the result.
