01 · WHY LORA + MESH?

LoRa for long-range PTT and messaging. Mesh for multi-device team communication.

J28 assigns off-grid PTT voice to its LoRa device-send path, while the current interface also presents private, group, nearby and SOS messaging. Mesh organizes participating devices into a local multi-node network and can use up to two relay devices where the field layout permits. Exact payload routing and final range remain subject to engineering verification.

01 · LONG-RANGE LORA RADIO

Carry PTT voice beyond cellular coverage

A dedicated device-send control routes PTT voice through the J28 LoRa radio path. The current interface also includes private, group, nearby and SOS messaging workflows.

02 · MULTI-NODE MESH NETWORK

Connect equipped teammates through a local device web

Mesh organizes participating devices as network nodes for multi-user team communication instead of depending on one public cell tower or internet connection.

03 · UP TO 2 RELAY DEVICES

Pass the path from A to D

Where the field layout permits, B and C can participate as up to two relay devices between the transmitting and receiving endpoints.

04 · 12 CHANNELS + GROUP CHAT

Separate teams and keep group conversations together

Choose from 12 radio channels for field coordination, then create multiple app-side group conversations for team communication—similar to the familiar group-chat workflow used in WhatsApp.

02 · WHAT DOES CHATFIELD BUILD?

Two LoRa mesh product paths for professional off-grid teams.

ChatField develops local team communication products for environments where cellular and Wi-Fi coverage cannot be assumed. J28 is the primary integrated-display prototype available through direct B2B quotation; J25 remains the phone-paired product with direct online checkout.

01 · THE CATEGORY

Local LoRa mesh communication

03 · HOW DOES J28 WORK?

One integrated display. Two communication controls. A local LoRa product direction.

The current J28 hardware and UI design separates an online voice path from a device LoRa PTT path. A 3.4-inch touch display brings selected messages, contacts and settings onto the device, while the phone app remains part of first-use binding and Bluetooth synchronization.

01

Bind J28 on first use

The current design starts with QR-code binding through the phone app. After successful binding, the operator can sign in on the device; password permissions remain configurable.

02

Select the communication path

A dedicated online-send control is assigned to voice through the phone-network path, while a separate device-send control is assigned to local LoRa PTT communication.

03

Operate from the display

The current 3.4-inch, 480 × 854 multi-touch design presents private, group, nearby and SOS message categories together with voice and PTT workflows.

04

Synchronize by Bluetooth

The design synchronizes private chats, group chats, nearby messages, SOS messages and contact information from the phone app over Bluetooth.

05

Configure and evaluate

Firmware update, language, text size, login permissions and hardware information are included in the UI plan. Final radio, battery and field-performance values still require engineering verification.

04 · J28 SPECIFICATION STATUS

Show what the current design confirms—and what still needs engineering evidence.

The J28 UI document confirms interface and workflow details. It does not provide final enclosure dimensions, battery capacity, operating time, LoRa frequency, range, ingress rating or certification, so those fields remain visibly pending rather than being filled with assumptions.

05 · WHERE CHATFIELD FITS

Different from satellite messengers and open-source hobby mesh kits.

Buyers often compare off-grid communication products across different categories. J28 should be evaluated as an integrated-display LoRa mesh product direction for local team coordination, not as a global satellite service or a finished DIY radio kit.

Satellite communicators

Useful for global messaging and emergency workflows, usually with subscription-based satellite service. This is not the same problem as local team mesh communication inside a work area.

Category reference: global two-way messaging and SOS

Open-source LoRa mesh projects

Strong for technical communities and flexible experimentation, but procurement teams still need device supply, documents, support, configuration control and commercial accountability.

Category reference: no cell towers, no internet, peer-to-peer mesh

ChatField J28

An integrated-display physical prototype being developed around online voice, local LoRa PTT, messages, contacts and device-management workflows for professional off-grid teams.

Product route: direct B2B quotation, prototype evaluation and Kickstarter preparation

06 · WHERE COULD J28 BE EVALUATED?

Real field scenarios, explained one by one.

Each solution page uses scene-specific field photography to explain the communication problem a buyer needs to solve. J28 suitability still depends on final radio configuration, terrain, team layout, local rules and field verification.

07 · WHICH PRODUCTS?

Two product paths. Two clearly different buying decisions.

J28 is the primary product presented on this website and can be ordered through direct B2B quotation while final specifications remain pending. J25 remains the product with a public price and online checkout.
