ChatField is built for the common gap between a normal mobile phone and a full satellite communication plan: local teams need to coordinate nearby work, but cellular service, Wi-Fi and public infrastructure cannot be trusted on the actual route.

02 · WHAT DOES CHATFIELD BUILD?
ChatField focuses on local team communication when cellular and Wi-Fi networks cannot be assumed. We combine phone-based operation with carried radio terminals and participating mesh nodes rather than imitating a conventional handheld walkie-talkie.
Multiple equipped users form a local communication network for PTT voice, text and voice messages, team location and operational data beyond dependable public coverage, cell towers or Wi-Fi.
The compatible phone remains the primary interface while Bluetooth links it to the carried communication terminal.
J25 is the current device that connects the phone workflow to the local LoRa mesh and is available for B2B evaluation.
03 · HOW DOES THE TECHNOLOGY WORK?
J25 separates the visual interface from the radio terminal: the phone handles the familiar user experience while J25 carries the off-grid link between equipped teammates. The buyer should evaluate direct LoRa paths, local mesh relay behavior, the 5 km urban-obstructed field-test result and ideal open-terrain conditions separately.

Bluetooth Low Energy connects the phone workflow to the J25 carried by each equipped teammate, so the radio terminal can stay attached to a pack, belt or equipment setup.
J25 terminals exchange local team traffic using LoRa radio communication where cellular service and Wi-Fi are not dependable.
When the direct path is not enough, participating J25 nodes can contribute another possible path through the local mesh, subject to configuration, node position and field conditions.
The receiving J25 passes the message, PTT audio or location information back to the paired phone for display, playback or team awareness.
04 · RANGE AND RELAY PLANNING
Range is a procurement issue, not just a marketing number. A buyer should separate ideal open terrain, city obstruction and relay-node planning before deciding whether J25 fits the route.
In open terrain such as plains, open line-of-sight routes or areas with limited hills, J25 can reach an ideal communication distance of up to 10 km.
ChatField has also tested around 5 km in urban conditions with high-rise buildings and structural obstructions.
Where the configured network and team layout permit it, up to two participating J25 relay nodes may be evaluated on the real route.
Dense buildings, terrain, vegetation, interference, antenna position, carrying position and node layout can reduce usable distance.
05 · WHERE CHATFIELD FITS
